The Union government has set an ambitious target to bring down the killings of civilians and security personnel due to terrorism, insurgency, and Maoist violence to zero by 2029.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) shared this vision during a recent presentation to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs.
The presentation, led by Home Secretary Govind Mohan, highlighted MHA's strategic plan, 'Vision @ 2047 (2024-2029),' aiming for a secure, peaceful, and prosperous India.
The government’s efforts focus on enhancing internal security, safeguarding cyberspace, establishing a transparent criminal justice system, and ensuring strong borders.
In Jammu and Kashmir, the plan emphasises dismantling terror financing networks and prosecuting anti-India entities. For the northeast, the government intends to solidify peace through implementing and negotiating agreements while countering insurgent groups unwilling to cooperate.
A comprehensive approach is also underway to counter the Maoist threat, with the government planning to strengthen infrastructure, communication networks, and develop a national action plan.
