A total of 33 Maoists have surrendered to the authorities in Bijapur, marking a major step in the ongoing efforts to counter Naxalism in the region. The surrenders took place before CRPF, DIG, and SP.

The Maoists, hailing from the Gangaloor region, made serious allegations against the hardcore telugu Maoists, accusing them of pressurizing and torturing them.

This surrender is seen as a major blow to the Naxal movement, as it highlights internal dissent and dissatisfaction among the ranks.

Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma, addressing the issue, emphasized the government's commitment to rehabilitation.

Speaking in Jagdalpur on May 22, Sharma urged Maoists to join the mainstream, adopt democratic values, and contribute to the progress of the country and society.

He also announced the launch of an email ID and a Google form for suggestions on the new Maoist rehabilitation policy, inviting input from all stakeholders.

The surrendered Maoists were previously involved in several violent incidents, including attacks on security forces. As part of the government's rehabilitation policy, each of the surrendered Maoists has been provided with Rs 25,000 in cash and will receive further assistance to reintegrate into society.

With this, the total number of Maoists who have surrendered to security forces this year has risen to 440, indicating a growing trend of disappointment within the Maoist ranks and a significant shift towards peace and rehabilitation in the region.
