In a distressing incident, an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Maoists terrorist exploded, causing injuries to two tribalwomen in Sukma.


The blast took place at a local resident's home, where the IED had been strategically placed by the Maoists, likely in response to increased movements of security personnel in the region.


According to the sources, the explosion resulted in severe injuries to one of the tribal women, who is reported to be in critical condition. The other woman sustained burns, but her condition is said to be stable.


The incident has raised concerns about the safety of tribal villagers in the Naxal-dominated regions. The police are actively investigating the matter, gathering information to understand the circumstances surrounding the placement of the IED.

A Maoist Killed in Sukma Encounter


There was an encounter between the security forces and the Maoists on Saturday. In this encounter, the SFs killed a Maoist, identified as Aavalam Podiya. At the same time, news came that many Maoists had been injured. This entire matter is in the Jagargunda police station area.


This encounter is between Doditumnar and Gondipalli in the Jagargunda police station area of the district. Like Dantewada, Bijapur, and Narayanpur in the Bastar division, security forces are continuously conducting operations by entering the den of the Maoists in Sukma district too.


According to the information received from the police, there was information about the gathering of Maoists in the dense forests of Kindrelpad, Konta, after which the security forces, including the DRG, Cobra, and STF, conducted a joint operation.


During this, the Maoists sitting in ambush in the forests of Kindrelpad suddenly opened fire on the soldiers. Responding to the continuous firing, the security forces took charge and killed a Maoist terrorist. The killed Maoist has been identified as Aavalam Podiya, a member of the Gangaloor Area Committee of Bijapur district.


After the encounter, weapons and some Maoist material were recovered from the site of the incident. At the same time, Maoists being injured in this firing also came to light. However, the total number of Maoists killed has not been confirmed administratively yet. The force has intensified operations in Sukma district in view of the Naxalite bandh.


Intermittent firing is still going on between the security forces and the Maoists. In fact, Maoists have called for a bandh on May 26. Sukma SP Kiran Chauhan said that intermittent firing is still going on in the area. Senior police officers are constantly monitoring the encounter. Maoists called for a bandh on May 26, in view of which the security forces have intensified the operation in the area.


Encounters between security forces and Maoists have become common these days in Chhattisgarh. Maoists come face-to-face with the security forces almost every day and face defeat every time. More than 21 encounters have taken place in the last three months. 114 Maoists, including many high-ranking Maoists, have been killed in these encounters. Apart from this, more than 300 Maoists have also surrendered.
