Sukma Naxal: Major Operation by Security Forces - 4 Maoists Arrested in Connection with IED Blast

In a significant achievement for the police, four Maoists involved in the June 23 IED explosion targeting a police vehicle in the Jagargunda police station area have been arrested.
 
The explosion resulted in the martyrdom of two personnel from the 201st Battalion of CoBRA. A substantial amount of explosive materials was recovered from the arrested Maoists.
 
As part of the anti-Naxal operation, based on intelligence about the presence of Maoists in the Jagargunda police station area on July 19, a joint party of CRPF and CoBRA units from Tekalguda was dispatched for area domination towards the village of Timapuram and surrounding areas.
 
During the operation, a few individuals in plain clothes were spotted near Timapuram, who attempted to flee upon seeing the approaching police party. The police successfully apprehended four suspects.
 
Upon interrogation, the suspects identified themselves as CPI-Maoist members Kunjam Kosa, Vetty Lakhma, Kunjam Mangdu, and Madkam Joga, all active within the Maoist organization.
 
A significant cache of explosives was seized from their possession. During intensive questioning, they confessed to planting the IED to harm security forces and admitted their involvement in the June 23 IED blast near Timapuram that resulted in the deaths of two personnel.

The arrested individuals have been presented in court and remanded to judicial custody for further legal proceedings.
