In a gruesome act of violence, Maoists brutally murdered a young man in Sukma district’s Bhandarpadar area under the suspicion that he was acting as a police informant.
The horrific incident, which took place near the Bheji Police Station, has sparked widespread fear and tension across the region.
According to Sukma’s Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Akash Rao Girpunje, the Maoists used sharp weapons to kill the youth, continuing their series of violent actions aimed at terrorising locals.
The police have registered a case and launched an investigation, vowing to bring those responsible to justice.
Maoist violence has been escalating recently due to their frustrations over sustained security forces' patrols, which have been undermining their influence in Bastar's forested areas.
In retaliation, the Maoists have not only targeted security personnel but have also started attacking civilians, further demonstrating their desperation and brutality.
The Maoists’ brutal murder of the youth follows another killing in Kanker district’s Markachua village, where a man was similarly executed for allegedly being an informant.
Such barbaric acts underscore the Maoists' attempts to spread fear among the villagers to suppress any cooperation with security forces.
Security forces have increased patrols in the region, and operations against Maoist elements have been intensified in response to the rising violence.
These continued violent acts reveal the Maoists’ disregard for human life as they desperately cling to their diminishing power.
