Awareness Campaign Held in Sukma to Combat Maoist Ideology

As part of efforts to combat Maoist influence and raise awareness about government welfare schemes, a public awareness campaign was conducted by the Police Public Awareness Art Forum on October 1, 2024, in the village of Gadgarmeta, under the jurisdiction of Chintalnar Police Station, Sukma district.
The campaign aimed to educate local villagers about the anti-development, inhumane, and hollow ideology of the Maoists.
It also highlighted the government’s welfare schemes and policies designed to uplift the rural population and counter Maoist oppression.
Through performances and discussions, the forum drew attention to the contrast between Maoist terrorism and the benefits provided by the state.
The event witnessed participation from villagers of Gadgarmeta and neighbouring areas such as Mukram, Morpalli, Karkanguda, Surpanguda, Tadmetla, Kumodtong, Golaguda, Kottaguda, and other surrounding villages.
These areas have historically been affected by Maoist activities, making the awareness campaign an essential initiative for the region.
Police officials confirmed that similar awareness programs will continue in the coming days, targeting other interior villages.
The objective is to further educate the population on government development schemes and the negative impact of Maoist activities on their communities.
Villagers have shown increasing interest in these programs, with many eager to learn more about welfare initiatives.
“This campaign has made us understand the government’s efforts and how the Maoist ideology works against our development,” said a resident of Tadmetla.
Additionally, the campaign encourages misguided youth and villagers influenced by extremist ideologies to return to the mainstream.
By offering a positive alternative through government schemes, the initiative aims to reduce the influence of Naxalism in the region.
Police believe that sustained efforts will play a critical role in helping villagers distance themselves from Maoist ideology and embrace the opportunities for growth and development supported by the government.
