Communists, a group that talks about feminism, women's issues, women's freedom, women's rights and women's empowerment all over the world, through which many claims are made about women's emancipation and such an image of itself is created globally that the main reason for the freedom women are getting all over the world is communism.
This idea of communists can be seen in India as well. The communist groups of India also think that they have brought the real revolution for women in India, but the truth is that it is these communist groups only, due to which a negative image has been created about women's issues in the entire world including India and there is no discussion on the real topics that should be discussed about women.
Well, which topics of women should be discussed is a different topic, but before that it is necessary to know what is the condition of women within these communist groups at present and how it has been in the past. From small places in India with limited influence to China, the country with the largest population in the world, women are discriminated against at various levels by the communists and women are kept in a weaker position than men in power and organization.
Status of women among communists at global level
At present, there are 5 fully communist ruled nations in the world, which are China, Cuba, Laos, Vietnam and North Korea. The Chinese Communist Party was founded on Marxist-Leninist ideology and through this ideology, the then communist leaders of China had talked a lot about women's liberation.
After the establishment of communist rule in the year 1949, the communist dictator had made women equality, freedom and empowerment his agenda in theoretical and documentary terms, but the reality is that from 1949 till today, there has been neither any widespread increase in the status of women equality, income, employment and education in China nor has any continuity been seen in it.
It has been seen in the Chinese Communist Party that even today an invisible 'glass ceiling' exists, which prevents women from reaching key positions in the party.
Apart from China, the condition of women in communist-ruled Laos is much worse and more difficult than the rest of the world. Due to communist policies in Laos, the situation is such that the United Nations report has also said that human rights of women are being violated in the rural and remote areas of Laos. Women in Laos also lack access to normal food, health, education and political participation.
The economic conditions of Cuba and Vietnam have always been in the global media, and the condition of women in these countries is also very pathetic. In North Korea, under the rule of communist dictator Kim Jong Un, women have been kept behind men at every level of society, while reports of exploitation of women are also common.
Status of women within communism in the Indian context
Leftists are present in various forms in India, from political parties to Naxal-Maoist terrorists. Apart from this, this group is also involved in literature, journalism and various parts of society in India.
This group also feels that they have fought for women's freedom in India, brought revolution and the way women are free today is due to their thinking and so-called revolutionary activities. But here also the situation is completely opposite.
There are various political parties in India with communist name and ideology, out of which CPI, CPM and CPI (ML) are prominent. Now, leaving aside the outsiders, if we talk about the women associated with it, then except for a few women, no woman leader has been in major positions in these parties. Not only this, women leaders who go even slightly against the ideology of these parties have been trolled by their own group.
Former CPI (ML) leader Kavita Krishnan had said that why does her party not say anything against dictatorship in China and Russia? After this, such a ruckus was created that Kavita Krishnan had to leave not only all the posts of the party but also the membership of the party. After this act, people of her own group trolled her fiercely and tried to suppress Kavita Krishnan's words completely.
Apart from this, if we look at the incident related to CPM's KK Shailaja, then it is understood that how seeing a woman moving forward creates panic in the communist ideology and then an attempt is made to bring her down. When the announcement of giving Ramon Magsaysay Award to former Health Minister of Kerala KK Shailaja was made, then CPM stopped Shailaja from accepting the award saying that this achievement is not only hers but of the governance and administration of the entire state.
Apart from this, CPM also said that Magsaysay was an opponent of the left and a supporter of capitalism, hence this award should not be taken. But the same CPM kept silent on Kerala Chief Minister P Vijayan going and joining various capitalist countries and institutions.
R Bindu, a woman leader of CPM and Higher Education Minister in the Kerala government, had accused the party leadership of being anti-women. All these examples show that no matter how much women empowerment and equality is talked about by the leaders of communist political parties in India, the truth is that women are considered second class in their own organization.
In the year 2018, several leaders of DFYI had made a serious allegation of sexual harassment against Kerala's Communist MLA PK Sasi, even after which the communist party and communist thinkers ignored it.
During this time, the communist leaders themselves pressured the victimized woman leader to withdraw the complaint. Moreover, going a step ahead, Kerala State Women Commission chief MC Josephan even said in support of PK Sasi that 'everyone makes mistakes.'
Apart from these political parties, if we talk about the terrorist group of the leftists i.e. Maoist-Naxal organization, then the exploitation of women in it is also not hidden from anyone. The condition of women is also pathetic in this organization, which includes women from tribal society.
The way these so-called leftist feminists have presented the issue of feminism, it has only and only harmed women. The way obscenity, drug addiction and rudeness are being described as a form of women's freedom, it has defamed the discussion of feminism itself.
Due to these absurd things, the issues, problems and needs of those women who actually need health, education and freedom to live life, not alcohol and obscenity, have not been able to reach the mainstream.
The truth is that communist organisations, communist thoughts, communist leaders and communist thinkers, all want to discuss about women but do not want women empowerment.
